A Little Nudge

Few things in the world are more powerful than a positive push.

A smile, a world of optimism & hope, ‘You Can Do It’ , when things are tough — Richael M. DeVos

I think we all can relate to it & this is what triggered my initial athletic journey, to begin with. It was the ‘Annual School Sports Event’ time of the year when I was reluctant to participate in any Track event. A small positive push by my younger sister and her friend gave a kickstart to my confidence & I won the 400mts race for the first time ever in my life. After that, there was no looking back and I won many sports events at school and was awarded “Best Athlete of the Year’ for all 4 years of my college.

The optimism of ‘You Can Do It’ has always played a key role in my life — independence, decision making, confidence, determination. I always get inspired and do something, even when I am not fully prepared for it. That’s how you begin to grow.

Pushing through the moment you feel ‘Wow, I’m not really sure I can do this’, can do wonders and accelerate towards the breakthroughs we dream for.

The fun of discovering the undiscovered, putting yourself up for new challenges, mentoring your brain to pick new things & pushing your boundaries — all this starts happening when you dare! Life can be hard at times and has always something to teach you, where embracing that ‘little push’ plays wonders.

Learning to ride a bicycle, riding a scooter, driving cars on highways, hiking, camping, sports, yoga — all have come through optimism and a little push from my loved ones.

Cherish what you are — perfections & imperfections intertwined deeply. It is always easier to quit & walk away, leaving the waters untested. But being critical of yourself with that tinge of optimism and nudge will help discover the fullness of life, the grit becomes to grow in you.

Pandemic has taught us new lessons. Always used to living in society & highly reliant on others, Covid has shaken our confidence and destabilized us. But we all know what has worked for people — breaking ourselves with its burden or utilizing the power of optimism and push ??

People who have been able to harness the power of self-push and self-indulgence have rediscovered themselves and converted bane into a boon. People found time to spend with family, do at-home workouts, discover nature at its best, learn to cook, read unread books, meditate, focus on what can be gained rather than what is lost.

Pandemic has brought me closer to myself, to family, to nature & to God — reinventing the core — all by a small push to sustain through it and find happiness.

Hopefully, this article provided you with some ‘push’ to keep moving forward and try the untried, untested, and unthinkable things to enjoy life to the fullest !!
